The “Everything Soup”: The One Pot Meal That Truly Has It All

There are some recipes that are less about precision and more about nourishment. This is one of them.

I call this The Everything Soup because it genuinely contains everything:
your five-a-day, quality protein, minerals, fibre, collagen, and deep, comforting flavour. It’s the kind of soup you make at the start of the week, keep in the fridge, and find that it somehow tastes better each day as the flavours melt into one another.

It’s hearty, grounding, and incredibly forgiving. You can adapt it based on what’s in season, what’s in your fridge, or what your body needs more of that week.

Lately, I’ve been making it on repeat.

Why I’m Making This Soup Right Now

At the moment, I’m experiencing severe hair loss, and one of my main focuses has been deep nourishment. When the body is under stress—hormonal, emotional, postpartum, nutritional—it often shows up through hair, skin, energy, and mood.

This soup is my way of saying: let’s support the body instead of fighting it.

It’s rich in:

  • Protein (for hair, hormones, and muscle repair)

  • Iron, zinc, and B vitamins (critical for hair growth)

  • Collagen and amino acids (from bone broth)

  • Fibre and phytonutrients (for gut and hormone balance)

If you’re trying to balance hormones, support fertility, recover postpartum, or simply eat in a way that feels supportive rather than restrictive, this is a beautiful place to start.

What Is the “Everything Soup”?

A hearty, protein-rich soup made with:

  • White beans

  • Shredded chicken

  • Seasonal vegetables

  • Bone broth

  • A flavour base of either white miso paste or tomato sauce

  • Finished with cheese for depth, umami, and satisfaction

It’s endlessly adaptable and designed to work with your body, not against it.

The Everything Soup Recipe

Ingredients (Flexible & Forgiving)

Protein & Base

  • Shredded chicken (from roasted or boiled chicken)

  • 1–2 cups cooked white beans (cannellini or butter beans work well)

  • High-quality bone broth (enough to cover)

Vegetables (use what’s in season)

  • Onion

  • Celery

  • Carrots

  • Corn

  • Mushrooms

  • Bell peppers

  • Spinach or kale

  • Cabbage

Flavour Builders

  • Olive oil

  • Salt and black pepper

  • Parmesan cheese heel (trust me on this)

Choose ONE base:

  • White miso paste (for a lighter, protein-rich, gut-friendly version)
    OR

  • Tomato sauce (for a richer, more robust flavour)

To Finish

  • If using white miso: grated Parmesan

  • If using tomato sauce: cheddar cheese + chilli flakes or fresh chilli

How to Make It

  1. Start with the aromatics
    Heat olive oil in a large pot. Add onion, celery, and carrots. Cook gently until soft and fragrant.

  2. Add vegetables
    Add mushrooms, peppers, corn, cabbage, and garlic. Let everything soften and release flavour.

  3. Build the soup
    Add shredded chicken, white beans, bone broth, and the heel of Parmesan cheese.

  4. Choose your base

    • Stir in white miso paste (off the heat to preserve its benefits), or

    • Add tomato sauce and let it simmer gently.

  5. Simmer & meld
    Let the soup simmer for at least 30–40 minutes. The longer it sits, the better it gets.

  6. Finish
    Add spinach or kale at the end. Adjust seasoning.

  7. Serve
    Top with grated Parmesan (miso version) or cheddar and chilli (tomato version).

Why This Soup Is So Good for Overall Health & Hormones

  • Protein supports hormone production, blood sugar stability, and hair growth

  • Fibre helps oestrogen detoxification through the gut

  • Bone broth provides collagen, glycine, and minerals that support skin, hair, and gut lining

  • Vegetable diversity feeds the microbiome, which plays a huge role in hormonal balance

When hormones feel off, the answer is rarely “eat less.”
It’s usually eat better, eat warmer, eat more consistently.

Make Once, Eat All Week

This is a perfect batch-cook recipe. Make a large pot at the beginning of the week and eat your way through it as lunches or easy dinners. It freezes well, reheats beautifully, and honestly improves with time.

It’s comfort food that actually comforts your body.
